A Veteran’s Perspective: Respect for the Uniform Matters
I am a veteran, and I am not okay with this.
To me, the uniform represents something far greater than a piece of clothing. It represents service, sacrifice, discipline, responsibility, and the countless men and women who have worn it before us.
That is why seeing the uniform treated in a way that I believe is disrespectful is deeply upsetting.
I understand that people can have different opinions about politics, public figures, traditions, and even the military itself. Those disagreements are part of living in a free country. But there should still be a basic level of respect for the uniform and what it represents.
I didn’t serve because I expected everyone to agree with me. I served because I believed in something bigger than myself.
So when I say “this is a disgrace to the uniform,” I am speaking from my own experience and from the respect I have for everyone who has served alongside me.
You don’t have to agree with me.
But please don’t forget what that uniform represents. 🇺🇸
Respect the uniform. Respect those who wore it. Respect the sacrifices behind it.
