Respectful Disagreement Still Matters

Calling the President of the United States a “pedophile” is highly disrespectful and offensive. I am asking everyone to refrain from using language like this, regardless of their political views.

We can disagree with a president. We can criticize policies, decisions, statements, and actions. We can demand accountability and ask difficult questions. Political disagreement is a normal part of a free society.

But there is a difference between strong criticism and personal accusations of serious criminal conduct.

Words matter. Accusations this serious should not be thrown around casually, especially when they can cause lasting harm to individuals and families.

If we want political conversations to be taken seriously, we should focus on facts, evidence, and specific actions rather than inflammatory labels.

You don’t have to support the President.

You don’t have to agree with his policies.

You don’t even have to like him.

But we can—and should—disagree without abandoning basic respect and decency.

Criticize the policies. Challenge the decisions. Demand accountability. But please think carefully about the words you choose.
